26 - 30 Mar 2007 (AUSTRALIA) Spillcon 2007: Oil Spill Conference & Exhibition in Perth. Spillcon is the Asia Pacific region's premier oil spill conference, which offers delegates the best advice and latest information concerning marine oil spill prevention and response techniques. From the global perspective of international conventions that protect our seas, down through regional cooperation programs to local industries and governments working together on the day to day issues, the 2007 theme "Global, Regional, Local" highlights the many tiered approaches used in Australia and around the world to prevent and respond to oil spills in the marine environment. 23 - 24 April 2007 (SOUTH AFRICA) Water Management Africa 2007 in Pretoria Water Management Africa 2007 is an integrated dialogue for water management strategies and plans. This conference seeks to address the growing problem of water stress in Africa. The cross-pollination of water management knowledge will create an intersectoral framework for consultative universal water management guidelines. This framework will be instrumental in guiding African water management stakeholders and sectors. 21-23 May (GREECE) Fourth International Conference on Sustainable Water Resources Management in Kos. The Fourth
International Conference on Water Resources Management will present the more
recent technological and scientific developments associated with the management
of surface and sub-surface water resources.The importance of this meeting cannot
be over-emphasised as water increasingly becomes a precious resource on which
the well-being of future generations depends. Issues of water quality, quantity,
management and planning, as well as other related topics, are essential to the
future of the world population. 18 - 21 June (SCOTLAND) Oceans 07 Europe in Aberdeen. This major international conference is run under the auspices of the Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) and its parent organisation The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). Oceans have a long-established pedigree in North America and are regarded equally favourably by industrialists and academics alike. It is intended to promote and disseminate knowledge, understanding and awareness amongst engineers and scientists of the role the Oceans play in our lives and environment and how to exploit the technology to achieve this. Its remit is to bring the major players in this field together with the up-and-coming young scientists and students in a forum of easy interaction and interchange of knowledge and experience. 12-18 August (SWEDEN) World Water Week in Stockholm. The World Water Week in Stockholm is the leading annual global meeting place for capacity-building, partnership-building and follow-up on the implementation of international processes and programs in water and development. 22 - 26 October (SOUTH AFRICA) The Fifth Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) Scientific Symposium in Durban. The Symposium entitled Advances in Marine Science in Eastern Africa: "Science, Policy and Management: pressures and responses in the Western Indian Ocean region" will bring together social and natural scientists, practitioners as well as decision-makers to share expertise, experience and solutions to aspects related to the theme of the Symposium. Most of the participants to the Symposium will from the countries of the region Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Reunion, Seychelles, South Africa and Tanzania. Also scientists from outside the region are expected to attend. | |||
